Our story

A few vines, a nickname, and a backyard in City Heights.

Boo Farms started in our backyard in City Heights, with a few vines and a nickname. "Boo" is a pet name, and it stuck. So did the luffa.

We're a first-generation Mexican-owned neighborhood business. We grow luffa in an urban garden, between the bougainvillea and the fence line, and turn it into body and household scrubbers. Alongside it, we pour small batches of soap and put together sampler packs perfect for gifting.

Luffa ripens on the vine, so our inventory is small and our restocks don't follow a calendar. When it's ready, we sell it. When it's not, we keep a list of neighbors who want first claim.

01

Soil

We build our soil with bone meal and fish emulsion before a single seed goes in.

02

Vine

The vines climb all summer. Each gourd hangs until it's heavy, dry and ready.

03

Harvest

We peel, shake out the seeds, rinse and sun-dry every luffa by hand.

Plant fiber, not plastic.

A luffa is a gourd. Dried, it becomes a scrubber that's firm when dry and soft when wet. When it wears out, compost it.
